ALAN HUNTER
Having made history as the first “vee-jay” to introduce MTV to television viewers in August of 1981, Alan Hunter became part of American pop culture during his six years with the cutting-edge music video channel. Alan helped make MTV the center of not only the music world, but the entertainment world as a whole, with his interviews of such celebrities as Billy Joel, Mick Jagger, Tom Cruise, Robin Williams and Madonna, just to name a few.
Over the years, Alan has worked extensively for the Fox Network on pilot shows and weekly programs, and he was also the host of the Starz network’s reality show, “Looking for Stars.” Radio listeners may also know Alan as the voice of Verizon Wireless, and co-host of the “Big 80s” channel on Sirius Satellite Radio, and co-founder of the Sidewalk Moving Picture Festival (www.sidewalkfilm.org), an independent film festival in Birmingham, Alabama. After more than 10 years, the festival has received critical acclaim by magazines such as MovieMaker, Filmmaker, and Time.

TERRY SLAUGHTER
Terry Slaughter is President and Executive Creative Director of Slaughter Group, a strategic design and branding firm based in Birmingham, Alabama. Serving national and international clients, the firm’s creative work is continuously recognized by the British Design and Art Director’s Club, the New York Art Director’s Club, Graphis magazine, and Communication Arts magazine. The firm’s work is also on permanent collection in the Library of Congress and the Museum fur Kunst und Gewerbe---Hamburg.
Innovative and creative strategic thinking coupled with world-class design solutions have been the benchmark of Terry’s 30 year career serving a broad range of industries including, banking, utilities, manufacturing, tourism, and film. Slaughter Group is deeply involved in the New Urbanist movement, which seeks to create and support Traditional Neighborhood Developments. Specializing in solutions tailored to each client’s unique brand development needs, the firm has assisted TND clients throughout the U.S., as well as Bermuda, Cayman Islands, and Costa Rica.

Fourteen years ago, while on a mission trip, Terry witnessed firsthand the suffering in the town of Piedras Negras, Mexico. In 2001, he founded El Nidal, an organization that builds houses for Mexico’s impoverished. To date, with the help of Slaughter Group employees, El Nidal is committed to building houses in Piedras Negras.
Slaughter Group also encompasses Simon Cyrene, a non-profit entity that uses design and creativity to improve the lives of people in the Birmingham area and around the world. A current project of Simon Cyrene is a design-oriented revitalization effort in Rosedale, an important historic neighborhood in Homewood, Alabama.
BRETT PHARES
Brett Phares started his training in media art well over twenty years ago, capped with an MA in Art History,
Theory and Criticism from SUNY-Stony Brook in 1990. Following graduate school, he began creating innovative advertising and communications for numerous prominent international brands. At DDB Digital for instance, he directed online ad campaigns for Microsoft and US West Dex, and at Agency.com he directed new media creative for Sharp Electronics, among others. Other clients have included Toyota, Ford Motor Company, E*Trade, Pioneer Electronics and Sprint Communications.
As an executive at Vail Resorts, Phares directing all creative related to interactive media for the resort operator and developer,. He also co-founded FizzyLab, where he led product development, branding and user experiences. He later earned an MFA at Hunter College in integrated media arts, and is now a practicing media artist and assistant professor of interactive media at Marist College.

WARREN HEATON
Warren Heaton is an award-winning digital media artist, whose film, video and interactive media projects include such clients as Adobe, Aquantive Microsoft, Concorde-New Horizons, DirecTV, Motor Entertainment, OrthoNeutrogena, and Walt Disney Imagineering.
Heaton is a part-time instructor at UCLA Extension's Design Communication Arts department and adjunct faculty at Santa Monica College's Academy of Entertainment and Technology. Warren co-hosts Digital Media Artists Los Angeles (www.dmala.org) with Ko Maruyama and Tony Romain, and recently collaborated with SPAN Productions in Venice, California to complete the independent full-length documentary, "The Hooping Life" (www.thehoopinglife.com).
